The Cox Commissions

The Cox Commissions

In  2001 NIMJ sponsored a Commission on the 50th Anniversary of the Uniform Code of Military Justice, chaired by the Honorable Walter T. Cox III, and issued a report known as the Cox Commission Report, to make specific recommendations to improve the military justice system on the fiftieth anniversary of the UCMJ.

In 2009, the second Cox Commission considered how the structure and practice of American military justice might be re-drawn to better meet the demands of military operations and legal standards of the 21st century.  Both of these reports, and all their appendices are available under the 2001 and 2009 tabs, respectively.
