Redacted Classified Transcripts from Commissions Add New Torture Detail

A recent article by Carol Rosenberg of the Miami Herald/McClatchy DC Bureau details the redacted contents of numerous classified hearings conducted in military commission trials in the 9-11 and Cole Bombing cases. These approximate 1300 pages cover over 30 hours of classified hearings and provide previously unknown details of the torture experienced by the defendants being tried before military commissions. Significant information on the control of Camp 7 where the defendants have been housed since arrival at Guantanamo in September 2006 are disclosed by these documents, to include when Camp 7 was built and the assertion that the CIA controlled the facility even after the defendants arrival from September 2006 to January 2007 when the US Government sought to take “clean” statements from the defendants in these cases.
